Audierne is a town in the Finistère department of Brittany, in northwestern France. The town lies on a peninsula at the mouth of the Goyen river on the Bay of Audierne. Audierne is a fishing village with a large sandy beach, and what was formerly an important fishing harbour is now a beautiful yacht port. You can take a ferry boat from here to the Île de Sein. There is one remaining fishery that is an oyster farm, where you can buy these fresh delicacies. Along the harbour stretches the town's main shopping area with its cafés, bars and restaurants, crêperies and boutiques. On Saturday mornings there is a farmers' market, which serves as a meeting place for both natives and tourists alike.

Places to visit in Brittany

Brittany sits in north-west France, occupying a large peninsula separating the English Channel and the Bay of Biscay. The town and port of Roscoff is served by ferry links with England and Ireland. A long jagged coastline is the region's great attraction, with magnificent beaches and seaside resorts on the northern shores of Cote d'Emeraude and Cote de Granit Rose. The south coast is gentler with wooded river valleys, a milder climate and the prehistoric sites of Carnac and the Golfe du Morbihan. The regional capital is Rennes and the great castle at Fougeres is unmissable.
