highlands of ScotlandDufftown and surrounding area is a beautiful part of the Highlands with lots to see and do. It is the Malt Whisky Capital with distilleries in Dufftown and all around. It boasts plenty of places to eat & drink, and a good selection of shops. The Keith and Dufftown Railway is an eleven mile line linking the World's Malt Whisky Capital, Dufftown, to the market town of Keith. Dufftown golf club's 18 hole course is to be found one mile south of Dufftown on the B9009. The 9th tee is one of the highest above sea level in UK being 1294ft above sea level and the clubhouse sits at 795ft.

Each visit starts with a film about the history of Glenfiddich, after which we show you the very heart of our operation. Balvenie is a castle of enclosure, with a massive 13th century curtain wall, built in a strategically significant position in the Glen. It was first owned by the powerful Comyn Earls of Buchan, then added to in the 15th and 16th centuries. The property is managed by Historic Scotland. Location: On the outskirts of Dufftown.
