The parish church of Castel is notable for its preserved medieval fresco and for the presence of a pre-Christian neolithic statue menhir in the churchyard, thought to be carved to represent a female fertility symbol. Over the generations the family have been explorers, diplomats, admirals and generals who have all left their mark. There are over 200 pieces of sculpture in the art park and the sub-tropical garden is home to exotic plants such as bamboo, banana trees, tree ferns, camellias, ginger, subtropical lillies, hebes, giant echiums and giant geraniums. Attractions St Saviour's Church. St Saviour's was the fourth church to be built in Guernsey. It is the largest of the country churches and stands at the top of a valley overlooking the reservoir.
