  Fort George was built following the defeat of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his Jacobite army at Culloden and its elaborate defences survive intact. Visitors can enjoy the historic barrack rooms or a visit to the grand magazine, built to hold 2,500 barrels of gunpowder.
