SudburySudbury lies in Suffolk, a county of picturesque well-preserved towns, villages of colour-wash and thatched cottages and a fine selection of medieval churches. Suffolk borders Norfolk to the north, Cambridgeshire to the west and Essex to the south, with the North Sea lying to the east. Its county town is Ipswich and other important towns include Lowestoft and Bury St Edmunds. The county is noted for having been the home to two well-regarded painters, Thomas Gainsborough and John Constable - the Stour Valley area is known as "Constable Country" - and the famous composer Benjamin Britten.
