The Isle of Wight is approximately
23 miles east to west, and 13 miles north to south. It is a stunning
island boasting unspoilt scenery, a choice of beaches and a wealth
of fascinating attractions. On the Isle of Wight, boating is
a very popular pastime, with one of the world's premier regattas
being Cowes Week, at the beginning of August. The Isle of Wight
has more footpaths than roads and over half the island is designated
an Area of Outstanding Beauty, whilst much of the coastline is
designated 'Heritage Coast'. As the Isle of Wight is relatively
small, which ferry/hovercraft route you take is more down to
which port on the mainland is best suited to you, rather than
your destination on the island. On the mainland - Southampton,
Lymington, Portsmouth & Southsea. On the Island - East Cowes,
Yarmouth, Fishbourne & Ryde. |
