The Manningtree
hotels listed below are either in the town or we have given
a rough guide as to how far they are from Manningtree. We hope
you enjoy your stay and find your ideal accommodation.
Manningtree and Mistley are two picturesque
adjoining villages. Manningtree is a market town and is England's
smallest recorded town. It is pleasantly situated on the south
side of the river Stour, where the river widens into a broad
estuary. Manningtree has many elegant buildings with Georgian
facades. For two centuries, Manningtree was an important brewing
centre and port. Manningtree High Street has an excellent selection
of shops, pubs and restaurants. Mistley is still a small but
thriving port. Nearby is Flatford Mill where Constable painted
his most celebrated painting, the Hay Wain. Bridge
Cottage serves as a free Constable museum and nearby Willy
Lotts Cottage, which featured in Constables works,
looks very much as it appears in the paintings. Manningtree is
8 miles west of Harwich, 5 miles east
of Colchester and 8
miles south of Ipswich. Also
